Music and Drama

Years 4 to 7

In term 1, in Music and Drama, we learned about the role of Arts in Society. In years 4/5 and 5/6 we identified how music and drama are used in everyday life, and explored some of Australia’s early history and cultural background through the music, and stories told in some Australian folk songs.

The year 6/7 children are currently creating a “movie” on DVD to tell the stories of some of the characters who were transported to Australia in the first fleet, and the 4/5 class are making a Ned Kelly movie. We are discovering through experience why Hollywood movies have to do multiple takes on many scenes! We have some great BLOOPERS ,including a camera man falling over a bush whilst filming. We will be relying heavily on Mr Fuller and the "film making club" to work some magic in the editing process!

Years 1 to 3

Through games, pictures, discussion and activities we have identified how music and drama are used in everyday life, and have focused on how music can tell a story. The children have been familiarized with different types of instruments, how they are played and the sounds that they make. They have also re-enacted the story of Peter and the Wolf, showing how music can help to portray a character.
