An interview with Andy Griffiths

Andy_Griffiths.jpgAndy Griffiths is Australia's top-selling children's author. He has written some of the country's most loved children's books, including Just Crazy, the Day My Bum Went Psycho, the Schooling Around series and the Bad Book.

The Year 4 / 5 class had been reading some of Andy's books, so we contacted him to see whether he would be willing to be interviewed by the students. Andy kindly obliged, taking part in a telephone interview from his home state of Victoria.

Andy shares a number of amusing anecdotes about how he became a writer and where his inspiration comes from. You can listen to a recording of the interview in Episode 21 of our school podcast, Podkids Australia.

Year 6/7 Camp

CampOn the 6th,7th,8th May the students from Years 6& 7 went on a camp to Point Walter. They students experienced a range of team building and challenging activities. The activities included orienteering, canoeing, rafting, fying fox, archery and mountain bike riding. We were very impressed with the students willinglness to 'have a go' and the way they worked as a team to overcome challenging situations.

First Aid Lessons

Royal Life Saving SocietyMat from the Royal Life Saving Society recently ran a two hour workshop on basic first aid with the Year 5/6/7 class. The students learnt DRABCD as well as treatment and bandaging of various wounds. The session was very informative and will hopefully arm the students with the skills to cope with many first aid situations.
