Last Friday, Orange were visited by a group of leading educators from Tokyo who wanted to learn more about how literacy is taught in Western Australian schools.
Paul Fuller, a teacher at Orange Grove introduced Podcasting to his students last year in an attempt to interest boys in writing. This innovative technology strategy has encouraged reluctant writers to write detailed scripts, conduct interviews that are recorded, placed on the WEB to be listened to throughout the world. While developing technological skills, they are also improving language skills and their ability to communicate.
The eight Japanese educators, including university professors, primary and secondary teachers were very excited to see classes in action as well as learn about the importance of technology in education.
