Our new undercover area
(Written by the students in Room 3)
Hi, we're Podkids Australia, and today we will be talking about our new undercover area. The subjects are: who built it, how it was built, when it was built and the purpose of it. We hope you enjoy it.
We have a new undercover area for having lunch when the weather is not with us. We also use the undercover area for activities when it rains. It blocks out the sun so we don't get sunburnt.
In our new undercover area, there are ten long white lights. It also has some skylights. There are about ten of them. It has a creamy colour for the roof. It also uses limestone to build the ground. The colour of the whole place is a mixture of a little bit of blue and some grey, but mainly a creamy colour. There is also a tin roof with plastic. There is a ramp for people in a wheelchair.
The undercover area was built in two stages. Last year, on the Christmas holidays, the undercover area was going up. The builders put the tin roof and the poles up. Then on the July holidays, the concrete flooring, lights and the ramp went in. We have been waiting 18 whole years for the undercover area!
The first thing that they did was they dug some holes for the poles and the next thing they did was they put the posts in and put some cement around it. Then they put the frame in. After that, they put the sheeting on to hold it there. Then they put the limestone blocks and limestone concrete in to make the foundation for the concrete.
Lots of contractors were working on the undercover area at different times. They worked as a team on the undercover area. We have had a lot of experiences since the builders have been here.
We just love our new undercover area.
