Egypt Excursion to the WA Museum

(Written by the Year 4 / 5 class and typed by Mr Fuller)

http://www.ogps.wa.edu.au/room_3/images/DSC00659-thumb.jpgOn Tuesday 21 November 2006, the Year 4 / 5 class went to the Western Australian Museum in Perth City. We were originally going to go on the 31st of October but Amany, the girl who was taking us, was in hospital. We arrived at school early so that we could leave at 9:00 am. We got back at 12:40pm. When we got back, it was lunch time. We didn't get much time so Mr Fuller gave us thirty minutes extra time to play.

http://www.ogps.wa.edu.au/room_3/images/DSC00669-thumb.jpgOn the way to the WA Museum we went on a green and yellow bus. It was normal but on the back it was black. It also had holes in it. On the way back we had a different bus which has side seats and it was easy to move around in. The bus had emergency stop buttons but nobody pressed them.

The people who went were Meisha (a baby brother of Klara), Mr Fuller (our class teacher), Christine's Mum, Klara's Mum, Trent's Mum and our class. Christine, Klara and Trent are students in our class.

Amany is an Egyptologist. She has found tombs. She has an unusual accent and she was our host. We think she is Egyptian. She had brown skin.

http://www.ogps.wa.edu.au/room_3/images/DSC00675-thumb.jpgWe went into a 200 year old jail for our Egypt tour. It had stairs and a lot of spiderwebs. It was dark. The first thing we did was a mind map to show Amany what we knew about Egypt. Then we discussed the 'afterlife' and watched a special slideshow. The slideshow had pictures of people who had been mummified.

Then we made a mummy out of a doll. We put a hook up its nose and took out all the organs. We put make-up on the dummy and wrapped the it up in bandages. It looked weird.

As well as the Egypt tour we went to the "Dinosaurs to Diamonds" and the "Space" tour. To get to the tour we had to go into an elevator. It was silver and aluminium with four buttons and two dents in the rail. We got to look in it.

http://www.ogps.wa.edu.au/room_3/images/DSC00685-thumb.jpgIn the space tour it had some space meteorites and it also had some glowing meteorites like green, purple, pink and other colours.

We went to the museum to learn more about Egypt. We had fun there but some people thought it was boring. The reason we went to the museum is because Egypt is our theme this term. We also went so we could find out more about history.

Thankyou for listening to this recount of our museum excursion.
